South Carolina Athletics
Carolina will honor Jacobi Wright, Benjamin-Bosmans Verdonk, Myles Stute, Nick Pringle and Jamarii Thomas prior to the 6 p.m. (ET) tipoff
COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina (12-17, 2-14 SEC) welcomes Georgia (18-11, 6-10 SEC) for its final regular season game at Colonial Life Arena on Tuesday night. Tip is set for 6 p.m. (ET) with Richard Cross (pxp) and Brandon Johnson (analyst) on the call for the SEC Network broadcast.
It’s Senior Night for the Gamecocks as the team will honor Jacobi Wright, Benjamin Bosmans-Verdonk, Myles Stute, Nick Pringle and Jamarii Thomas. Fans are encouraged to arrive early as the ceremony will start approximately 25 minutes before tipoff with the Bulldogs.
Carolina has won 2-of-3 with double-digit Saturday home wins over Texas (Feb. 22) and Arkansas (March 1) on its home floor.
Preseason All-SEC forward Collin Murray-Boyles looks to continue his three-game hot streak in which he’s averaged 28.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.0 blocks per game. The SEC’s field goal percentage leader (min. 5 made FGs per game) is 31-of-43 (72.1%) from the floor during the stretch and 22-of-25 (88.0%) at the free throw line. He has five games this season with double-digit made field goals. The last Gamecock with five games in a season with 10 or more made field goals was Devan Downey, who did it nine times in 2009-10.
The Columbia, S.C., native has a career-best 10, 20-point games this season and eight double-doubles, which leads the team and ranks third in the SEC. Murray-Boyles is one of just three players in Power Five (ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten and SEC) averaging at least 15.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 blocks and 1.0 steals per game while shooting above 50.0% from the floor (Kansas’ Hunter Dickinson and Maryland’s Derik Queen the others).
The Bulldogs have won two-straight games with an 88-83 home win over No. 3/3 Florida last Tuesday and an 83-67 win at Texas on Saturday night. They are led by standout freshman forward Asa Newell who averages 15.2 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. Guard Silas Demary Jr., the SEC Player of the Week, also averages double figures at 12.9 points per game. He leads the team averaging 3.1 assists and 1.7 steals, per game.
