Carolina With Best Regional Finish Since 2013 On Friday
FINAL RESULTS
ROCK HILL, S.C. —-South Carolina cross country posted its best finish since 2013 at the NCAA Southeast Regional on Friday at Winthrop as the Gamecocks finished 17thout of 33 teams. For the second-consecutive year Anna Kathryn Stoddard paced Carolina as she finished 46thout of 245 competitors with a time of 21:08.5.
As a team, Carolina averaged a 21:47.72 as it had three runners place within the top 100 finishers.
Heather Stone wasn’t far behind Stoddard in placing. Her time of 21:11.4 was good enough for a 52nd-place finish. Sarah-Sims McGrath rounded out South Carolina’s top-100 finishers as her time of 21:48.8 placed her in 98th.
Allie Mueller, running in her final collegiate cross country race, finished 127thwith a time of 22:05.7. Kelsey Larkin finished next for the Gamecocks, coming in 166thplace with a time of 22:44.2.
Maryah Nasir was next up with a time of 22:46.5 to finish 173rd. Brooke Wilson followed with a time of 23:04.1 to finish 189thto close the day for Carolina.
This marked the third-straight season Carolina has improved upon its NCAA Regional finish from the season before.
