Jubb Cruises to Round of 16

No. 27 Paul Jubb defeated No. 75 Charlie Broom in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2 to advance to the round of 16 in the ITA All-American Championships.

TULSA, Okla.- Paul Jubb took down fellow Englishman and the No. 75 singles player in the country, Charlie Broom, of Dartmouth in straight sets winning, 6-4, 6-2, on Friday morning to punch his ticket into the round of 16 at the ITA All-American Championships.
 
The 27th-ranked Gamecock stole all of the early momentum winning the first four games of the match.  Down 15-40 with a 4-1 lead, he won the next four points to break Broom’s serve a third time for a 5-2 lead in the opening set.
 
Jubb finished off the first set 6-4 and cruised to a 6-2 second set to move into Saturday’s round of 16 where he will face the winner of Kody Pearson (Tulsa) and JJ Wolf (Ohio State). 
 
Winners of Saturday’s round of 16 matches will automatically receive a bid to the 2018 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships which takes place Nov. 7-11 in Surprise, Ariz.
