Gamecocks Start Strong at Carolina Regional
A total of five Carolina men's tennis players advanced to Saturday's third round of main draw singles action.
CARY, N.C.- South Carolina men’s tennis had five total players advance into Saturday’s third round of the singles main draw at the 2018 ITA Carolina Region Championships. The Gamecocks will also have four doubles tandems compete in Saturday’s opening round of doubles play.
Top-seeded No. 27 Paul Jubb quickly made his way past is first two opponents with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Appalachian State’s Ben Webster before finishing day one with a 6-1, 6-3 decision over Felipe Sarrasague (Elon).
Yancy Dennis improved to 9-3 in his career in singles play at the ITA Regionals and dropped just a single game on day won winning 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-0 in the first two rounds, respectively.
A trio of Gamecock true freshman (Raphael Lambling, Joe Brailovsky, and Daniel Rodrigues) will join Jubb and Dennis in the round of 32 which is set to begin Saturday afternoon following doubles play.
