Purchase Tickets for Teacher Appreciation Day at Gamecock Football
Teachers make a lasting impact by going the extra yard for their students, and South Carolina Athletics is partnering with the University’s College of Education to help educators feel like MVPs. South Carolina is once again participating in the College Football Playoff Foundation’s “Extra Yard for Teachers Week” (September 15-22) with the promotion of the USC College of Education Teacher Appreciation Day at Williams-Brice Stadium on Saturday, October 13 as the Gamecocks host Texas A&M.
Extra Yard for Teachers aims to elevate the profession by inspiring and empowering teachers using the high profile of college football. The College Football Foundation looks to tackle the challenges educators face by assisting them with resources, recognition, recruitment, and professional development.
South Carolina is working with the state’s Department of Education to reach out to all school principals this week to remind them that educators can purchase tickets for that game at the discounted price of only $30, which is a savings of $25 per ticket. The discount is available for all educators and their guests, and they do not have to be members of the Gamecock Club to buy the tickets.
This marks the fourth straight year that South Carolina will honor educators by offering discounted tickets to teachers, school staff, and their families.
“For the past three seasons thousands of teachers have been recognized at Williams-Brice Stadium for their tremendous contribution,” said Blake Woodward, Sales Manager of IMG Learfield Ticket Solutions for South Carolina Athletics. “This year we look forward to having over 3,000 teachers at the game.”
Additionally, the USC College of Education and the South Carolina Department of Education work together to select teachers to be honored on the field during the game.
“Honoring teachers on the field and in the stands is a way to give back,” said Woodward. “Our athletics department strives to make that moment in Williams-Brice Stadium about the teachers and the positive impact they have in our communities.”
