USC volunteer assistant coach Allen Johnson, the No. 1 ranked 110m hurdler in the world, posted an impressive time of 13.19 in Friday’s 110m hurdles semifinal to win his heat and advance to Saturday’s event final. USC alum Terrence Trammell also won his heat, clocking a time of 13.34, the second-fastest time of the semifinals, to advance.

Johnson’s domination was evident in the fact that his time was 27 hundredths of a second faster then the next closest runner in his heat and 15 hundredths of a second quicker than Trammell, his next closest competitor overall.

In the finals, Johnson, the defending world champion and 2003 U.S. Champion, will be aiming for his fourth world title. Trammell, who won five NCAA titles as a Gamecock, finished second to Johnson at the U.S. Championships in Palo Alto in June.

Four members of Team USA will compete in the 110m hurdles final as Johnson and Trammell are joined by Larry Wade and Chris Phillips. It is the first time four athletes from the same country are in the final.

The IAAF World Championships begin the final weekend of competition in Paris and continue through Sunday, August 31. ESPN2 will provide television coverage from 4:30-6:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
