Go Helps Philippines Win Gold at Asian Games

Jakarta, Indonesia – Over the weekend, junior Lois Kaye Go and her home nation of the Philippines won a gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games at the Pondok Indah Golf Course with a team score of 22-under-par. 
 
After finishing 17^thin individual play, Go’s score helped her team capture gold in the team portion of the women’s golf competition. The women’s team started the day two off second placed Korea and nine behind pace-setting China, but a double 66s for a 132 for the Philippines were more than enough as China shot a 145 and Korea could only manage a 137.
 
This was the first time the Philippines landed a gold in Asian Games golf since Ramon Brobio in Seoul in 1986. The Philippines now has three gold and 10 bronze medals, and is ranked 15th among the 34 countries participating in the sporting event. 
 
Go returns to Columbia after her gold medal performance, and will be a part of the Gamecocks as they begin their season on Sept. 17 when they travel to Lake Elmo, Minn. to compete in the Annika Intercollegiate. 
 
During her first season with the Gamecocks Go was a member of the Second All-SEC team, and earned SEC Academic Honor Roll honors. During the 2017-18 season she recorded the all-time sophomore scoring average at 72.45, and the fourth best single season scoring average.
