Beach and Indoor Programs Earn Team Academic Honors

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association announced its annual Team Academic Award on Monday, July 21. The list recognizes teams at the high school and all collegiate levels that maintained a year-long grade-point average of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.

South Carolina’s beach and indoor volleyball teams extended their respective steaks on the national list; beach volleyball ranks third in Division I for most total awards, making the list 11 years in a row. Only Georgia State and Stanford can match that streak. The team carried a 3.6 GPA in the fall semester and an in-season mark of 3.44 in the spring. The indoor team is now on a 16-year streak on the list, only 14 of 353 Division I teams have a longer streak. The Gamecocks posted an in-season GPA of 3.52 in the fall while making the program’s 11th NCAA tournament appearance, then improved their mark with a 3.58 spring GPA.

In total, 1,450 collegiate and high school volleyball teams earned the 2025 AVCA Team Academic Award.
