Aleen Bailey, the 2003 NCAA 100m and 200m Champion, clocked a time of 22.98 in her 200m heat to advance to the event quarterfinal at day four of the IAAF World Championships in Paris. The Jamaican did not finish her quarterfinal race during evening action.

A pair of former Gamecocks competed in the women’s hammer throw qualifying round but did not advance to the final. Lisa Misipeka of American Samoa, who entered the Championships ranked 21st in the world, posted a mark of 64.42 while American Dawn Ellerbe, ranked No. 16, recorded a mark of 61.66. Ellerbe currently serves as a volunteer assistant coach for USC.

The IAAF World Championships continue Tuesday in Paris and continue through Sunday, August 31. ESPN2 will provide coverage from 2:30-4:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday. Former USC standout Tonique Williams will be running for the Bahamas in the women’s 400m finals during that time.
