Gamecocks Finish Third in Carolina Region Rankings

COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina men’s tennis (19-9, 7-5) finished at No. 3 in the final Carolina Region Rankings of the year which was announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

This marks the seventh straight season that the Gamecocks have made it into the top-five of the final Carolina Region rankings and the third straight year they have finished within the top-three. South Carolina finished behind this year’s National Champions, Wake Forest (1), and North Carolina (2), which each finished the year in the top-10 of the final national ITA Rankings.

The Gamecocks also had two singles players, No. 5 Gabriel Friedrich (25-15) and No. 9 Paul Jubb (24-11), to make it into the top-10 of the 2018 end-of-year region rankings.

Seniors Gabriel Friedrich and Thomas Mayronne (8-3) came in at No. 5 in the final doubles rankings while No. 8 Harrison O’Keefe and Yancy Dennis (8-6) also made the final region rankings.

The Carolina Region is made up of Division I men’s tennis programs in North Carolina and South Carolina, including Duke, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Coastal Carolina, Clemson, NC State, Furman, South Carolina, Winthrop, Davidson and East Carolina.
