Gamecocks Defeat Miami (OH) to Stay Perfect on the Season
COLUMBIA, SC – The No. 16 South Carolina women’s soccer team (4-0-0) defeated Miami (OH) (1-2-0) 2-0 at Stone Stadium on Sunday afternoon to stay perfect on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Gamecocks got on the board in the 10th minute after a foul set up a direct kick. Senior Gracie Falla played the ball out wide to senior Micah Bryant, who delivered a perfect cross for sophomore Katie Shea Collins to head into the net for a South Carolina lead
- The second half started with a penalty kick opportunity in the 46th minute for the Gamecocks. Junior Cuyler Zulauf took the kick past the keeper to put South Carolina up 2-0
- It was Zulauf’s first goal of the season and Collins’ third
- Emma Kirlin checked in in front of the net for the first time in her Gamecock career
- Grad student Anna Young made her first appearance as a Gamecock after missing the 2024 season due to injury
- The South Carolina defense held Miami (OH) to zero shots throughout the match
