ELON, N.C. — South Carolina men’s tennis rising sophomore Thomas Brown captured a 2018 ITA/UTR Summer Circuit tournament title on Monday morning by defeating top-seeded Vikash Singh (6-2, 6-2) in the championship match of this weekend’s ITA men’s singles event hosted by Elon University at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.

After advancing to the round of 16 by default, Brown defeated Charlie Schuls 6-4, 6-2 to secure a spot in Sunday’s quarterfinal round.
Brown battled to a tight 7-6 (8) opening set win against Dillon Gooch to begin the second day of competition before cruising to a 6-1 second set win to earn a spot in the gold draw’s semifinal round. He would later make quick work in his semifinal match with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Benjamin Wayland to punch his ticket to Monday’s championship match.
