Gamecocks Fall to Ospreys

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina men’s soccer (5-3) fell 2-0 against North Florida (4-3) Tuesday night (Sep. 16) at Stone Stadium, snapping its four-match win streak.

Both teams had only one shot before North Florida struck first with a goal in the 25th minute. Loïc Sany Kong had the lone shot on goal for the Gamecocks in the 38th minute, sending it into the bottom right corner.

The Gamecocks came out of the locker room on the attack after spending most of the first half on the defensive. Ballek took five shots including a shot on goal in the 53rd minute that was saved in the bottom right corner.

The Ospreys scored their second goal of the night in the 69th minute to seal the match.

Alejandro Velazquez-Lopez had the third and final shot on goal for Carolina in the 87th minute. South Carolina had 15 total shots to North Florida’s seven. The Gamecocks also led in corner kicks on the night 4-to-2.

Carolina returns to Stone Stadium Friday at 7 p.m. to open conference play against Georgia State.
