Gamecocks Remain Undefeated in SEC Play With Win Over Oklahoma
NORMAN, OK – No. 12 South Carolina women’s soccer (9-1-2, 3-0-1) defeated Oklahoma (8-3-1, 1-3-0) 2-0 on Friday night. Corner kicks yielded goals about a minute apart to power the Gamecocks to their third SEC win of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Sooners started the game on the offense, getting three shots off during the first 15 minutes, but only one was on target.
- The Gamecocks got their first chances at goal when sophomore forward Katie Shea Collins forced a save in the 20th minute and sent another shot just wide to the left in the 22nd minute.
- The two teams fought a possession battle and traded a few more shots throughout the half, but neither team could connect. Each team had five shots in the first half with USC leading 3-1 in shots on goal.
- South Carolina broke the ice in the 56th minute on a corner kick. Sophomore Kylie Cino sent the ball across the goal, and Collins got her head on it to get the Gamecocks on the scoreboard.
- Just moments later, South Carolina earned another corner. Junior Cuyler Zulauf’s cross met Taylor Bloom at the back post, and her header made it a 2-0 lead.
- The Sooners threatened in the 74th minute with a spinning shot from outside the 18-yard box that went just wide right. The Gamecocks held on to their clean sheet one last time when the Sooners sent a shot wide from the 6-yard box in the 86th minute

- The Gamecocks broke the Sooners’ eight-game home winning streak.

- The Gamecocks kept the SEC’s leading goal scorer off the board.
- It was South Carolina’s ninth clean sheet of the year, and senior goalie Tina Tsaousis’ sixth shutout on the season.
- Collins’ goal was her team-leading eighth this season, while Bloom picked up her second. Cino and Zulauf recorded their first assists of the season.
- Junior Autumn Cayelli and Cino made their first career starts.
- This was the first matchup between the two programs since Oklahoma joined the SEC in 2024.
