Gamecocks Finish Fourth at Inaugural Bryan Bros Collegiate

Sophomore Marek Fleming had his first career top-10 finish at South Carolina this week to lead the team at Solina Golf Club
WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina finished fourth at the inaugural Bryan Bros Collegiate on Monday. The Gamecocks had a trio of players finish in the top-20 led by sophomore Marek Fleming.
He had a career week with his first top-10 in Garnet and Black, finishing T-7th with a 7-under total of 206. Fleming fired rounds of 69-69-68 this week at Solina Golf Club. The Tomball, Texas native was bogey free today in rainy conditions with a trio of red numbers on the back nine. Fleming made nine birdies with just two bogeys, both at the difficult par-4 18th hole, over the course of 54 holes.
Redshirt junior All-American Frankie Harris and senior Zach Adams each finished T-16th with 4-under totals of 209. It’s the 16th career top-20 finish for Harris and the ninth for Adams. Harris made a charge up the leaderboard today over the final 36 holes with a 67 (-4) this morning in round two and a 70 (-1) in round three. Adams was steady with scores of 71-69-69. Both players made 12 birdies with an eagle this week to lead the team.
Redshirt sophomore Ismael Encinas finished just outside the top-20 as he T-24th at 1-under with a 54-hole total of 212. Encinas shot 69-70-73 with nine birdies. Junior Brock Blais finished T-39th at 2-over (215) for the tournament. He finished strong today with a 2-under round of 69 that featured four birdies.
The tournament was originally scheduled for Sept. 29-30 with the opening 36 holes taking place today. Due to weather, the event was moved up a day to Sunday with the first round being played and the final 36 holes being played today.
Freshman Talan Harrison, freshman August Petersson and sophomore Emil Elkjær Petersen each competed as individuals this week for South Carolina. Harrison led the trio of Gamecock individuals with a T-24th finish at 1-under. The Kannapolis, N.C. native shot 66-70-76. His 66 (-6) in round one gave him a share of the 18-hole lead. He made five birdies and an eagle in round one.
No. 9 LSU went wire-to-wire edging out Charlotte by three shots to take home the team title with a 35-under, 54-hole total of 817. The Tigers had four players finish inside the top-15. Duke’s Bryan Kim took home medalist honors with a 16-under score of 197, which tied a school record.
South Carolina will conclude its fall season with consecutive events at The Bryson Invitational (Oct. 13-15) at Daniel Island Club and the Fallen Oak Invitational (Oct. 18-20) in Saucier, Miss.
