Gamecocks to Host Top-10 Matchup Against Arkansas

COLUMBIA, S.C. – No. 10 South Carolina women’s soccer (9-1-2, 3-0-1) returns home Thursday night to host No. 7 Arkansas (6-2-2, 4-0-0) at 7 p.m. for a top-10 matchup at Stone Stadium. The game will be televised live on ESPNU. 

LAST TIME OUT

  • The Gamecocks closed out a stint on the road with a 2-0 win over Oklahoma. Both goals came from corner kicks in the second half, about a minute apart. 
  • Sophomore Kylie Cino got her foot on the cross and volleyed the ball across the goal, and sophomore Katie Shea Collins got her head on it to get the Gamecocks on the scoreboard in the 56th minute. 
  • South Carolina earned another corner in the 57th minute. Junior Cuyler Zulauf’s cross met senior Taylor Bloom at the back post, and her header made it a 2-0 lead.
  • The goal was Collins’ team-leading eighth and Bloom’s second of the season. Cino and Zulauf earned their first assists of the season on the goals. 
  • The Gamecocks are now 9-0-0 when scoring first this season. 
  • South Carolina has nine clean sheets on the year, and senior goalie Tina Tsaousis has six shutouts on the season. 
  • Tsaousis’ GAA of .282 is tied for third in the country and is first in the SEC. She is second in the SEC with a save percentage of .870 
  • Collins leads the country in game-winning goals with five, and her two shots on goal per game are tied for 16th in the country and are third in the SEC. 

SCOUTING THE RAZORBACKS 

  • Thursday’s match wth Arkansas is the 27th in program history. The two teams met last season in Fayetteville when the Razorbacks won 2-0 (Sept. 29).
  • South Carolina leads the all-time record 16-7-3, but Arkansas has taken the last three matchups. 
  • The Razorbacks are undefeated in SEC play so far this season, and enter the match coming off a 4-1 win over Ole Miss. 
  • Freshman Vailana Tu’ua leads Arkansas with eight points. Tu’ua and senior Zoe Susi lead the team with three goals apiece.
