Elbadra Named SEC Women’s Runner of the Week
COLUMBIA, S.C. (Oct. 7, 2025) – Less than one week after her Gamecock Cross Country debut, South Carolina distance runner Salma Elbadra has been named SEC Women’s Runner of the Week. The award was announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
Elbadra made her debut on Friday at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational, finishing third overall in her 5K race. The Morocco native clocked 15:57.5 for just the second sub-16-minute 5K in program history, ranking second all-time in South Carolina history. In addition to her bronze medal finish, Elbadra’s efforts aided the Gamecocks in finishing runner-up for their third consecutive podium finish to open the 2025 season.
Elbadra and the Gamecocks will close out the regular season on Friday, Oct. 17 at the Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
