COLUMBIA, S.C. – The No. 10 South Carolina women’s soccer (9-1-4, 3-0-3) team hosts Texas (3-9-1, 1-5-0) at 6 p.m. Thursday for the teams’ first ever regular-season SEC match. STUFF A VAN DONATION DRIVE

We’re teaming up with Rapid Shelter, COLA Parks and Recreation, and COLA Homeless Services for their Stuff a Van Donation Drive! At tomorrow’s game, members of our Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will be on site collecting hygiene supplies to support the cause. Requested items include: soap and body wash, lotion, toothpaste and toothbrushes, deodorant, and more. Bring a donation to help us make a difference in our community!

LAST TIME OUT

  • The Gamecocks remain undefeated in conference play after leaving Auburn with a 1-1 tie. Junior Cuyler Zulauf converted a penalty kick for the equalizer when a Tiger defender was called for a handball in the 87th minute. The goal was Zulauf’s third of the season.
  • In the 29th minute, a foul called on Gamecock Amanda Patrick set the Tigers up for a penalty kick, which Erin Flurey connected on to put Auburn up 1-0
  • The Tigers led with 10-6 in shots, but the Gamecocks had three shots on goal to Auburn’s two.
  • Senior keeper Tina Tsaousis had one save during the match.
  • Tsaousis is now 13th in the country in GAA with .475, which is second in the SEC.
  • Sophomore forward Katie Shea Collins leads the team with eight goals on the season and has two assists as well. Rookie forward Mackenzie Johnson follows with five goals and two assists.
  • Collins leads the conference in game-winning goals with five, earning her the second spot nationally.
  • Senior defenders Gracie Falla and Taylor Bloom have held down the back line for the entirety of the season, allowing just six goals through 14 games. Each centerback has contributed goals on the offensive end as well.

SCOUTING THE LONGHORNS

  • Thursday’s matchup with Texas will be just the 3rd in program history. The two teams last met in Pensacola, FL, for the SEC Tournament Championship game, which ended in a 1-0 Texas win (Nov. 10).
  • The all-time record is tied 1-1. The two teams first met in 2011 in Columbia when South Carolina won 1-0 (Nov. 11).
  • Texas enters the match coming off a 2-1 loss to Florida.
  • The Longhorns are 1-5 in SEC play. Their lone conference win was a 2-1 victory over Vanderbilt at home. Texas’s record on the road is 1-5.
  • Freshman Ava McDonald and sophomore Amalia Villarreal lead the team with six goals and two assists apiece.
