No. 8 Gamecocks Hit the Road for Kentucky

COLUMBIA, S.C. – No. 8 South Carolina women’s soccer (10-1-4, 4-0-3) hits the road to take on Kentucky (9-4-2, 3-2-2) at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16, in Lexington. The match will be streamed live on SECN+. 

LAST TIME OUT

  • The Gamecocks enter the match coming off a 5-1 win over Texas at home to remain undefeated in conference play. Four different Gamecocks found the back of the net on five goals, marking a new season high for the Gamecocks in both. 
  • Sophomore Katie Shea Collins scored two goals and had two assists, tying her career high of six points. Collins’ involvement in four goals was also a career high. She leads the team in goals with 10.
  • Junior Cuyler Zulauf, graduate student Anna Young, and junior Reagan Shubach each scored for South Carolina as well. Zulauf’s goal was her fourth of the season, and Shubach’s was her first of the year. Young’s goal was the first of her career. 
  • Freshman Alexa Pino had two assists on the night, and freshman Mackenzie Johnson recorded her third assist of the season. 
  • South Carolina is 10-0-1 when scoring first this season.
  • Collins leads the country in game-winning goals with six so far this season. She leads the Gamecocks with 24 points. 
  • Senior Christina Tsaousis is 12th in the country with a GAA of 0.514. 
  • South Carolina’s No. 8 ranking is the highest of the season and the highest since the team was No. 7 in 2023 (Sept. 19).

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS

  • Thursday’s match will be the 31st in program history. The all-time series is a tight race, but the Gamecocks lead 15-13-2. South Carolina has dominated the series 8-0-1 since 2016.
  • The two teams last met during the 2024 regular season when the Gamecocks won 1-0 (Sept. 22). 
  • Kentucky enters the match coming off a 1-1 tie at Ole Miss. 
  • Sophomores Alexis Tylenda and Anna Sikorski lead the team with seven goals each. Tylenda leads the team with 18 points.
