Gamecocks Close Regular Season at Crimson Classic

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (Oct. 16, 2025) – South Carolina Cross Country will compete in the Crimson Classic at Harry Pritchett Running Park in Tuscaloosa, Ala. on Friday morning at 10:20 a.m. ET.

The Gamecocks are set to compete in their first 6K of the season in tomorrow’s regular season finale. The results of the race can be found here.

PARTICIPATING TEAMS
There will be a total of 23 teams running in the Crimson Classic tomorrow, hosted by the No. 13 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide. In addition to the Tide, Tulane (No. 25) and South Carolina (No. 26) represent the USTFCCCA Top 30 nationally ranked teams this weekend.

Four South Region ranked opponents will also join the competition as Vanderbilt (No. 8), Georgia Tech (No. 10), Kennesaw State (No. 11) and Auburn (No. 12) will line up in Tuscaloosa.

PUSHING THE PACE
The Gamecocks are coming off a silver medal team finish at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invite, continuing their podium streak to three consecutive meets to start the season. Ten out of twelve runners finished with a collegiate 5K personal bests, with nine finding their spot in the Top 20 Program Times.

Following the result at Notre Dame, the Gamecocks jumped into the USTFCCCA Top 30 national rankings for the first time in program history, sliding in at No. 26. South Carolina is also now ranked third in the Southeast Region, railing only N.C. State and Virginia in the regional ranking. The Garnet & Black sit ahead of in-state rival Clemson (No. 4), as well as the likes of Wake Forest (No. 5), North Carolina (No. 6) and Duke (No. 7).

LINING UP FRIDAY
South Carolina will send 12 student-athletes to the start line tomorrow. Gamecock Cross Country first years Salma Elbadra and Abir Reffas will lead the pack, with veterans Teresa Cherotich and Anya Arroyo following closely behind. Joining them will be: Jade Buridon, Mary Frances Iseman, Hattie Jennings, Sofie Kurzawa, Eline Mast, Allie Matasich, Emma Torbert and Abigail White.
