Elbadra Repeats as SEC Women’s Runner of the Week

COLUMBIA, S.C. (Oct. 21, 2025) – For the second time this season, Salma Elbadra has claimed SEC Women’s Runner of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. Elbadra’s honor marks the third time in four opportunities this season that a Gamecock has taken home this award.

In just her second collegiate cross country race, Elbadra captured the gold medal finish at the Crimson Classic after running 18:40.3. Elbadra was able to win the 5,868-meter race and lead South Carolina to the upset victory over host No. 13 Alabama as well as 25th-ranked Tulane. Elbadra has now podiumed in each of her first two career races at South Carolina.

Elbadra and the 20th-ranked Gamecocks will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 31 as they compete in the 2025 SEC Cross Country Championship in Knoxville, Tenn. The approximate race time for the women’s event is slated for 10:53 a.m.
