No. 17 Gamecocks finish regular season against No. 10 Vanderbilt
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The No. 17 South Carolina women’s soccer team closes out the regular season at home against No. 10 Vanderbilt at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26. The match will be televised live on SEC Network.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Gamecocks drew 0-0 with Texas A&M at Stone Stadium on Sunday (Oct. 19).
- South Carolina was outshot in the first half with just two shots from sophomore Avery Galante and senior Kinley Brown to the Aggies’ five.
- Coming out of the half, South Carolina was quick to create chances. The Gamecocks took five shots in the first 15 minutes, including one on goal, but could not connect.
- South Carolina halted the Aggies’ chances, outshooting them nine to four in the second half. They finished taking two more shots than the Aggies, 11-to-9.
- South Carolina had four corners in the second half after being held to none in the first.
- Galante and Brown led the team in shots with two apiece.
- Senior goalkeeper Tina Tsaousis had two saves on the night.
- The 0-0 draw was South Carolina’s and Tsaousis’s seventh shutout on the season. Tsaousis has a GAA of 0.640 on the year.
- Sophomore Katie Shea Collins still leads the team in both goals and assists. She’s scored 10 and assisted four. Freshman Mackenzie Johnson follows Collins in each category, with six goals and three assists this season.
SCOUTING THE COMMODORES
- Vanderbilt enters the matchup coming off an upset 2-0 win over No. 4 Tennessee for the program’s first win over a top-5 opponent.
- Sunday’s matchup with Vanderbilt will be the 34th in program history. The two teams last met during the 2024 regular season in Nashville when they tied 1-1 (Oct. 4). Collins scored the equalizer in the 90th minute to earn the Gamecocks a point.
- The Commodores lead the all-time record 14-10-8. South Carolina has taken six of the last 10 matches.
- The Commodores have won five straight matches and finished the regular season undefeated at home.
- Junior forward Sydney Watts leads the team with 11 goals, and graduate goalkeeper Sara Wojdelko has only allowed seven goals this season.
