Mayronne Named to SEC Men's Tennis Community Service Team

April 24, 2018

COLUMBIA, S.C. –

COLUMBIA, S.C. — For a third year in a row, South Carolina men’s tennis senior Thomas Mayronne has been named to the SEC Men’s Tennis Community Service Team the league office announced on Tuesday.

Since 2004, the league office has sponsored community service teams in all 21 sports to recognize the accomplishments of student-athletes beyond the field of competition with at-large teams for men’s and women’s sports being chosen from 1999-2003.

Mayronne, a native of Monroe, La., led the Gamecocks men’s tennis program with 43 community service hours, giving his time to Ending Allergies Together (EAT), a non-profit which funds studies to accelerate food allergy treatments and cures. He served as a college ambassador for EAT and helped to launch a grassroots marketing campaign at the collegiate level.

Mayronne also assisted in planning and coordinating a dodgeball tournament on Apr. 14 called Dodging Allergies Together where proceeds where donated to research for allergy cures.

He has also worked through Team Impact to sponsor two individuals as members of the men’s tennis team, giving them tennis lessons and spending time with them outside of tennis, attending movies and other activities. These Team Impact members were both recognized this past Sunday as honorary seniors as a part of South Carolina’s Senior Day ceremonies.

This past fall, Mayronne and three other teammates participated in an exhibition tennis match at Rockbridge Country Club where they interacted and played friendly matches with club members.

Mayronne, 22-13 in singles and 16-11 in doubles play this season, has amassed 135 career combined wins in his four years at South Carolina. The Gamecocks will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala. this week as the No.7 seed in the 2018 SEC Tournament where they will take on 10th-seeded Ole Miss on Thursday at 1 p.m. ET.
