Raven Johnson on National Point Guard Award Watch List

COLUMBIA, S.C. – For the third-straight season, South Carolina senior Raven Johnson earned a spot on the Nancy Lieberman Point Guard of the Year Preseason Top 20 Watchlist, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced today.

Johnson has led the Gamecocks from the point guard position each of the last three seasons, which have yielded a 109-5 record that includes three trips to the NCAA Final Four, back-to-back championship game appearances and an undefeated 2024 National Champion season. South Carolina has won the SEC regular-season and tournament championships each of her first three seasons, losing just one SEC game in that stretch.

Individually, Johnson’s 410 career assists rank 10th in program history, and her 166 in SEC play are fifth in the Gamecock record books. Her single-season assist-to-turnover ratio each season account for three entries in the program’s all-time top 10, led by her 3.09 mark in 2023-24 ranking second. With 3.33 assist-to-turnover ratio in SEC action last season, she reset the program record previously held by seven-year WNBA veteran Tyasha Harris.

Johnson posted her career-best season in 2023-24, averaging 8.1 points on 44.3 percent shooting from the field and 35.0 percent from 3-point range to go along with 5.2 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. For that effort, she earned a spot on the All-SEC Second Team, and the following season she was on the SEC All-Defensive Team.

No. 2/2 South Carolina will play its second exhibition game on Thu., Oct. 30, facing No. 11/11 North Carolina at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster.
