Construction Begins on Williams-Brice Stadium Reimagination Project

Construction activity is now underway on the Williams-Brice Stadium Reimagination Project, marking a major milestone in the transformation of one of college football’s most iconic venues. As equipment arrives on-site and initial demolition begins, visible progress will be noticeable from outside the stadium in the coming days and weeks.

Phase 1 of the Williams-Brice Stadium Reimagination Project will be the renovation of the general concourses and the student section and will be completed by the start of the 2026 football season.

Early construction in Phase 1 includes key demolition work across several areas of the stadium:

• East Ground Level Slab demolition
• Southwest Ramp demolition
• Floyd Building demolition
• All major demolition work is expected to be completed by January 5

“This is an exciting moment for Gamecock Nation,” said Gamecock Athletics Director Jeremiah Donati, who emphasized the significance of reaching the construction phase. “Breaking ground on this project signals the beginning of a new era for Williams-Brice Stadium and reflects our commitment to delivering an enhanced experience for our fans and student-athletes.”

To complement the leadership perspective, Greg Hughes, Contract Construction Chief Executive Officer, noted the magnitude of the work ahead. “Our team is proud to help bring this vision to life. Over the next several months, fans will start to see the stadium take shape in new ways, and this initial demolition phase is a critical first step.”

While the focus of this phase remains on construction progress, the broader Williams-Brice Stadium Reimagination Project includes new premium areas, expanded amenities, and additional improvements designed to elevate the fan experience.
