Columbia, S.C. –
Despite rain in the Columbia area on Saturday morning, all matches were played
at the 2003 Wachovia USTA Boys Junior Davis Cup Tournament on the campus of the
University of South Carolina. Because of the rain not all matches were completed
in each contest.

On the opening day, all top seeds won easily and advanced to the second round
of the main draw. The top seeded Southern team won 5-0 over Pacific Northwest at
the Sam Daniel Tennis Facility. Bobby Cameron, ranked 18th in the country, led
the way for Southern as he defeated Pacific Northwest’s Justin Chow 6-1,6-4 at
the number one singles position. With the win, Southern will play Mid – Atlantic
tomorrow at noon at the Sam Daniel Tennis Center.

The number three seed Southern California team defeated New England 6-1 at the
Maxcy Gregg Tennis Center while Florida squeaked by Caribbean 4-3 at the indoor
tennis facility. The number two doubles team of Ganger and Killeavy won 8-4 to
clinch the victory for Florida and advance them to the second round to face the
number two seed Mid-West team at 10am at the Sam Daniel Tennis Facility. All championship draw matches will be played tomorrow at the Sam Daniel Tennis Facility while consolation matches will be played at the Columbia Tennis Center.
