Carolina playing in the Puerto Rico Classic for the fifth consecutive season this week

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico – South Carolina men’s golf begins its spring season for the fifth consecutive year at the Puerto Rico Classic. It’s the 33rd year of the tournament which is hosted annually by Purdue.

First round action gets underway Monday morning with a shotgun start for the field at 6:30 a.m. (ET) at Grand Reserve Golf Club.

Four top-25 teams are in the field this week headlined by No. 1 Virginia and No. 2 LSU. The Gamecocks and Tigers will be joined by No. 14 Oklahoma, No. 18 Tennessee and Georgia from the SEC.

Carolina finished third last season with a 54-hole score of 832 (-32). Junior Brock Blais led the way for the Gamecocks with a career-best fourth-place finish after shooting 204 (-12) with three rounds of 68 (-4).

Blais will be in the lineup again this week joined by redshirt senior Frankie Harris, sophomore Marek Fleming, freshman Talan Harrison and senior Zach Adams. Freshman August Petersson will compete as an individual.
