NCEA Horse of the Month
WACO, Texas — University of South Carolina horsemanship standout Reggie has been named NCEA Horse of the Month for January, the organization announced Monday.
Reggie, whose show name is Here’s My Number, is a 10-year-old Paint, Sorrel Tobiano donated in 2012 by David R. Tammon. He’s the first Gamecock horse honored by the NCEA this season.
Reggie has been an SEC and NCEA Championships participant in horsemanship during his time with the Gamecocks, and he’s been ranked as an NCEA top-10 horse each season since 2012-13.
Reggie suffers from PSSM, or equine diabetes. He is on a very strict diet, and his weight has to be monitored monthly. He also had his lower front teeth knocked out as a foal, so eating can be difficult for him. He has always been willing and happy to do whatever has been asked of him even with these medical issues. Reggie is definitely the favorite of horsemanship riders for more reasons than just his athletic abilities.
UP NEXT FOR THE GAMECOCKS
Reggie and the Gamecocks host Georgia on Saturday. It’s Equifest Kids Day at One Wood Farm, with the meet beginning at 1 p.m. ET.
