COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina women’s soccer released their 2003 schedule. The Gamecocks will face eight teams that advanced to last years NCAA tournament: Clemson (8/29), Furman (9/2), Dartmouth (9/7), Texas A&M (9/12), Auburn (10/3), Tennessee (10/12), Kentucky (10/19) and Ole Miss (10/24).

South Carolina will open the season on the road versus in-state rival Clemson on Friday, August 29th. After three consecutive home matches against Furman (9/2), Charleston Southern (9/5) and Dartmouth (9/7), the Gamecocks will travel to the Lone Star state for a match against Texas A&M (9/12) in College Station, Texas. Carolina will then square off against the University of Houston on Sept. 14 in Houston, Texas.

USC will travel to Athens, Ga. to compete in the Georgia Tournament against Liberty (9/26) and Georgia Southern (9/28). South Carolina will return home and play host to their first SEC opponent and last years conference champion, Auburn (10/3). South Carolina will close out the regular season with three matches on the road, Ole Miss (10/24), Mississippi State (10/26) and at the University of Florida (11/1). The SEC tournament will be held in Orange Beach, Ala. on September, 11th-16th.

The women’s soccer team is finding success in the classroom as well. The teams’ 3.553 GPA was the highest of all USC athletic teams for the spring semester. They also placed 14 team members on the SEC Academic Honor Roll for the 2001-2002 academic calendar year.
