COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina (2-1-0) returns home to square off with North Florida (1-2-0) on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. It’ll be the first meeting all-time between the two programs.
The Gamecocks will help raise awareness for Ovarian Cancer throughout the month of September. Carolina will kick off their month of awareness vs. the Ospreys. The team will close out their month of awareness on Friday, September 22 when they take on New Mexico as part of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Night. All fans that wear teal will receive $1 admission and the first 1,000 fans will receive a pair of teal thunder sticks. Fans encouraged to wear teal to all matches during the month of September.

“UNF brings a very good team into Columbia on Tuesday night. In our last match, we started four new players, and our growth and development as a team continues this season match-by-match. Every minute of every match is important for our development at this point. We look forward to kickoff on Tuesday night. Also, September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. For all our matches this month, we will be wearing teal warm-up shirts to promote community awareness of ovarian cancer.” — head coach Mark Berson
SCOUTING North Florida
The Ospreys were picked to finish second in the ASUN in the league’s preseason poll. North Florida has won the ASUN Regular Season Title in back-to-back seasons. Four players were named to the preseason all-conference team including goalkeeper Juanes Fajardo, who was named the ASUN Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year. Fajardo was second team all-conference in 2016 after going 4-3-1 in the net with 18 saves. He went undefeated in conference play, posting a 3-0-1 record in his matches. He led the league with a 0.61 goals against average and posted a .909 save percentage versus conference opponents. Adrian Nunez, who was the 2016 ASUN Freshman of the Year, leads the team with six points and three goals. He leads the team in shots (11) and shots on goal (7). The Ospreys opened the year with a 2-0 win over Campbell and fell 3-2 to UNC-Wilmington and 2-1 to Georgia Southern.
UP NEXT
The Gamecocks remain at home to open the Conference USA season on Saturday night versus FAU at 7 p.m. The Owls will be led into Stone Stadium by new head coach Joey Worthen, who played at South Carolina and served as an assistant under Berson for five seasons.
