COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina equestrian program is excited to welcome Taylor Kellam to the 2017-18 roster. A native of De Pere, Wis., Kellam recently signed a National Letter of Intent to ride with head coach Boo Major and the Gamecocks beginning this fall.

“We’re really looking forward to having Taylor join our team,” Major said. “We think she has a lot of leadership qualities, and she will be someone our girls are excited to have as part of the team next year.”

Kellam is a horsemanship rider, and she is trained by Kim Kuehne. Last season, she placed in the top five at the All-American Quarter Horse Congress, and she’s earned multiple year-end awards from the Wisconsin Quarter Horse Association and the Northeast Wisconsin Quarter Horse Association.

The daughter of Jim and Karie Kellam, Taylor has one younger sister, Alayna. She plans to major in nursing at the University of South Carolina.

Kellam shines in the classroom, where she is a four-year honor roll member and tutors her peers in science and math. She earned a Community Service Letter for logging over 50 hours of service as a high school student, and she was active with both the tennis team and the school band.

UP NEXT FOR THE GAMECOCKS

Carolina begins their 2017-18 season in September. The Gamecocks return three All-Americans to a squad that advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2017 NCEA Championship.
