The National Golf Coaches Association recently announced the year-end student-athlete and coaches awards for Division I Women’s College Golf. Winners were recognized at the NGCA Awards Banquets held in West Lafayette, Indiana on Friday evening, May 23 immediately following the conclusion of the Division I Championship. South Carolina senior golfer Kristy McPherson was named to the NGCA First-Team All-American squad for the third conseuctive year.

In addition, the NGCA honored three Gamecock golfers for their achievements in the classroom as senior Kacy Thompson, junior Kory Thompson and sophomore Tiffany Catafygiotu were named to the 2003 All-Academic Team.

The National Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women’s collegiate golf coaches. The NGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition. Today, the NGCA represents over 325 programs throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
