Stevens, Huskey Remain In Contention At South Beach International Amateur

Sophomore Scott Stevens and junior Keenan Huskey remain in contention at the 2016 South Beach International Amateur. Stevens is tied for 17th at 5-under after shooting 74 (+3) on Wednesday at Miami Beach Golf Club. Huskey is tied for 40th at 2-under after shooting 70 (-1) in the third round .

Stevens carded two birdies in his round, both of which came on the back nine. Huskey tallied six birdies for the second consecutive round, recording three on the front nine and three on the back nine.

Sophomore Will Miles is in 89th at 9-over. He was unable to find his rhythm and shot 79 (+8) in Wednesday’s third round.

Ryan Lumsden, who is representing Scotland, is alone in first at 12-under after shooting 67 (-4) in round three. Lumsden plays collegiately at Northwestern.

The tournament, which began in 2011, features 210 of the top amateur golfers in the world. The 2015 field featured 88 of the world’s top-600 players.

Miami Beach Golf Club is the site for the second, third and fourth rounds. Normandy Shores Golf Club was the sit for the opening round. Both clubs are historic championship golf courses that have undergone $15 million dollars in redesign and renovation over the last 10 years. Famed golf course architect Arthur Hills brought back to life the classic nature of each course while increasing the challenge through modern design tactics.

Both courses play to 6,800 yards, and each course will have one par 5 which will be changed to a par 4, making Normandy Shores a par 70 and Miami Beach a par 71 for tournament purposes.
