2017 Spring Schedule (Printable Version)

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina women’s golf coach Kalen Anderson unveiled the Gamecocks’ 2017 spring schedule on Tuesday, announcing a challenging slate that features four events before the 2017 SEC Championship.

“We have another highly competitive schedule yet again,” Anderson said. “All spring will be a great preparation and representation of play we will see in the postseason.”

The team’s spring slate begins with the Florida State Match-Up (Feb. 10-12) in Tallahassee, Fla., where it has had strong showings in the first three years of the tournament’s existence. The Gamecocks captured the 2014 Florida State Match-Up before placing fourth at the event one year later. Last season, three Gamecock golfers notched top-10 finishes to help South Carolina earn runner-up honors at the Don Veller Seminole Golf Course and Club.

In March, the Gamecocks return to Hilton Head Island, S.C., to host the sixth annual Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. The 54-hole event, set for March 3-5, will again bring together the best women’s golf programs in the country. Five of Golfstat’s current top-10 teams will be in action at Long Cove Club, including the 2016 tournament champions Alabama.

South Carolina rounds out its regular season with the Bryan National Collegiate (March 31- Apr. 2) and the Liz Murphy Collegiate Classic (April 7-9). The Gamecocks have grabbed runner-up honors at the Bryan National Collegiate in each of their last two appearances at the event in Greensboro, N.C. The Liz Murphy Collegiate Classic, which combines stroke and match play, will again take place at the UGA Golf Course, the site of South Carolina’s 2002 SEC Championship.

The 2017 SEC Championship is set for Apr. 21-23, and it will be contested at Greystone Golf Club for the fifth-straight year. South Carolina has earned top-five finishes at the league tournament in six of its nine seasons under Anderson.

The No. 13 Gamecocks wrapped up a successful fall season with the 2016 Landfall Tradition Title last month on Oct. 30 in Wilmington, N.C. The victory marked Carolina’s ninth win under Anderson and the second time the team finished a tournament under par this fall. The Gamecocks opened their 2016-17 campaign with four-straight top-10 finishes, including a pair of top-five showings in their last two events of the fall.
