Deakin Named To C-USA All-Academic Team

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Senior midfielder Danny Deakin was named to the 2016 InTouch Credit Union C-USA Men’s Soccer All-Academic team, league officials announced Wednesday. The Sheffield, England native, is making his first appearance on the team.

Deakin, who is majoring in criminal justice, has one of the highest GPAs on the team at 3.932. Earlier this season, he earned a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District 4 Team along with senior midfielder Kurtis Turner, senior defender Ive Burnett and junior goalkeeper William Pyle.

The Conference USA Tournament begins on Wednesday at Marshall’s Veteran’s Memorial Soccer Complex. South Carolina, the No. 2 seed, faces seventh-seeded Old Dominion at 4:30 p.m. ET in the quarterfinals.
