Women Empowering the Game Clinic Sunday

COLUMBIA, S.C. ââ’¬” South Carolina women’s basketball head coach Dawn Staley announces additional details about her Women Empowering the Game coaches’ clinic, set for Sun., Oct. 30, 1-6 p.m. at Colonial Life Arena. The clinic will feature presentations from various WNBA coaches as Staley brings some of the best minds in the game of women’s basketball to South Carolina.

Registration begins at noon at the main entrance of Colonial Life Arena. Walk-up registration is welcome, and admission is $75 per person or $150 for three members of a coaching staff. A t-shirt and lunch will also be provided.

The event begins at 1 p.m. with a presentation from Chicago Sky head coach Pokey Chatman on zone offenses. At 2 p.m., Seattle Storm head coach Jenny Boucek will take over to discuss playing outside sets. Cheryl Reeve, head coach of WNBA finalist Minnesota Lynx, will talk about loop and elbow offenses and counter sets. Staley and her staff round out the on-court teaching portion of the event with a demonstration of drop-cross-run defenses, beginning at 4 p.m. The final hour of the event will be a Q&A moderated by WIS anchor Judi Gatson.
