COLUMBIA, S.C. – On the heels of its 2016 SEC Championship and an undefeated regular season, South Carolina women’s soccer will be honored during Saturday night’s football game against Tennessee.
The No. 2 Gamecocks, who topped Ole Miss 2-0 on Thursday to become the first SEC team to finish the regular season undefeated (17-0-1), will be recognized on the field at Williams-Brice Stadium. The ceremony is scheduled to take place during the second TV timeout of the first quarter. Kickoff between the Gamecocks and No. 18 Volunteers is set for 7:15 p.m. ET, and the contest will air on ESPN2.
Carolina clinched the SEC Regular-Season Title this past Sunday (Oct. 23) following their 2-0 victory over the Volunteers. The Gamecocks, who never trailed in conference play this season, posted an 11-0-0 league mark, outscoring opponents 22-3 during that stretch.
The Gamecocks open postseason play next Wednesday (Nov. 2) in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament at the Sportsplex in Orange, Beach, Ala. Top-seeded Carolina will face the winner of Monday’s match (Oct. 31) between eighth-seeded Texas A&M and the No. 9 seed Alabama, with kickoff on Wednesday slated for 6 p.m. ET. The contest can be seen on SEC Network.
