COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina women’s soccer earned its highest NSCAA ranking in program history, claiming the No. 4 spot in the coaches’ poll released on Tuesday afternoon.
The Gamecocks, ranked No. 5 last week, are one of three schools unbeaten on the year with a mark of 11-0-1. Their current 11-match winning streak is tied for the longest in school history. They’re also listed at No. 4 in this week’s NCAA RPI rankings.
With 11 wins and one draw through 12 matches, South Carolina is off to its best start since 2009, when it began that fall 13-0-1. The Gamecocks, who rank sixth in Division I with a 0.41 goals against average, have outscored SEC opponents 11-1 in 2016. Carolina has trailed for just 85 seconds on the season and notched five wins over schools that competed in the 2015 NCAA Tournament.
Stanford occupies the top spot in the NSCAA Top 25, while Florida State (No. 2) and West Virginia (No. 3) round out the top three. Other SEC schools listed in the poll are No. 11 Arkansas, No. 16 Florida and No. 18 Auburn.
South Carolina hosts the 11th-ranked Razorbacks at Stone Stadium this Sunday in a battle of the last two undefeated teams in SEC play. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET, and the match can be seen on SEC Network+, available through WatchESPN.
