SPRINGFIELD, Pa. – South Carolina women’s golfer Katelyn Dambaugh advanced to match play at the 116^th U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship after posting her second-straight round under par on Tuesday at Rolling Green Golf Club. The rising senior carded a 70 (-1) to end her day near the top of the leaderboard in a tie for fifth.

Dambaugh’s two-round total of 138 (-4) was nine strokes clear of the cut line, as the Goose Creek, S.C., native punched a ticket to the 64-player match-play bracket. Her opponent for tomorrow’s round of 64 will be determined after Wednesday morning’s playoff between golfers looking to move on. In Monday’s opening round, Dambaugh used a strong finish to record a 3-under 68. She notched birdies on four of her final six holes, starting on the par-4 13^th. She added another one on No. 15 before closing with back-to-back birdies to end round one in a tie for third.

Tuesday featured an up-and-down round for Dambaugh, who began this morning on the par-3 10^th. She made the turn at 1-under 34 after carding two bogeys and three birdies, and back-to-back birdies on Nos. 3 and 4 moved her into a tie for second at 6-under for the tournament. Following bogeys on the next two holes, Dambaugh ended her day with three-straight pars.

South Carolina signee Anita Uwadia also moved on to match play after tallying a 74 (+4) on Tuesday. She opened the tournament with a 2-under 69, and her two-round score of 144 (+2) gave her a share of 39th place. Uwadia notched seven birdies in two rounds of stroke play.
