Gamecocks Set for Basketball Hall of Fame Women's Challenge

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina will take part in the 2016 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Challenge, the organization announced today. The Gamecocks will host three games at Colonial Life Arena Nov. 20-22 before traveling to Springfield, Mass., to face Louisville on Sun., Nov. 27, at the MassMutual Center.
“We’re excited to be part of the Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Challenge and to face great competition early in the season,” South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley said. “With three home games and one against a top 5-10 team at a neutral site, it’s a great way to showcase women’s basketball. We’re looking forward to taking our team to the place the game we all love was born and to take on Louisville in Springfield.”
Three teams will travel to Columbia, S.C., for three days of round-robin competition at Colonial Life Arena,, Nov. 20-22, during which South Carolina will face Hampton, Maine and Saint Peter’s, respectively. All four teams will then travel to Springfield, Mass., for a final game of the event on Sun., Nov. 27, with the Gamecocks and Cardinals closing out the four games at MassMutual Center.
Game times, broadcast and ticket information for the Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Challenge will be released at a later date via www.hoophall.com/womenschallenge. All proceeds from the Women’s Challenge benefit the non-profit Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass.
