Columbia, S.C. – The University of South Carolina men’s golf team heads to St. Simons, Ga. for the 2003 Southeastern Conference Championships on April 25-27. The Seaside Course at the Sea Island Golf Club will host the event for the third straight year.
Last season the Gamecocks tied for 10th place, while Martin Rominger led the team with an eighth place finish. Rominger posted a three round score of 216. Representing the Gamecocks is Eirik Johansen, Martin Rominger, Nash Elliot, Alex Hamilton and West Streib.
This season has been comprised of primarily freshmen and sophomores. Sophomores Hamilton and Rominger and freshman Johansen have played in all 10 South Carolina tournaments and will compete in the 2003 SEC Championships. Redshirt freshman Streib has also contributed in the success of South Carolina, playing in seven tournaments. The only upperclassmen competing in the 2003 SEC Championship Elliot, a redshirt junior.
Paired up with Georgia and Kentucky, South Carolina tees off the first round at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, April 25. Live scoring of the event can be viewed at www.secsports.com.
