COLUMBIA, S.C. – Junior Koty Millard earned the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week award after the Gamecocks’ shutout win over No. 11 Coastal Carolina on Saturday.

Millard played all 90 minutes for the Gamecocks on the back line that kept its third clean sheet of the year, all three coming after Millard moved to the right back spot midway through the season. South Carolina blocked 11 of Coastal’s 20 shots on the night, helping limit the direct shots at Gamecock sophomore goalkeeper William Pyle. Pyle claimed the award earlier this season after the blanking of UAB in the C-USA opener.

Charlotte’s Brandt Bronico claimed the league’s offensive player of the week honor.

It’s the second-consecutive week Millard’s been honored with an award, as he garnered selection to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week last week for his efforts.

South Carolina faces sixth-seeded New Mexico on Wed., Nov. 11 at 4:30 p.m. in the first round of the Conference USA Tournament, hosted by Charlotte at Transamerica Field.
