GREENVILLE, S.C. – South Carolina sophomore Keenan Huskey wrapped up his dominant performance at the 84th South Carolina Golf Association Amateur Championship with a final-round 66 (-6) to win the title by nine shots on Sunday at Greenville Country Club’s Chanticleer Course.

Huskey entered the final round with a six-stroke lead and was able to pull away for the win as he recorded just one bogey on the day and tallied five birdies and an eagle to finish with a 72-hole total of 269 (-19). Lee Palms carded a 69 on Sunday to finish runner-up with a total of 278 (-10).

A native of Greenville, S.C., Huskey is the first Gamecock to win the SCGA Amateur Championship since Mark Anderson claimed medalist honors in 2009. On the week, he recorded just five bogeys and one double bogey and dominated the par 5s by playing them in 13-under, including three eagles.

Huskey birdied his third hole of the day to move to 14-under but gave the shot back on the par-3 fourth with a bogey. However, that was his only mistake of the day, as he birdied the next two holes and made the turn with a 34 (-2). He kept adding to his lead on the back nine with birdies on holes 10 and 13 and an eagle on No. 15 before making par on the final three holes.

Gamecock freshman Will Miles finished tied for 36th with a total of 301 (+8) after shooting 80 on Sunday.

Huskey, Miles and the Gamecocks are slated to open their 2015-16 season on Sept. 11-13 in Rocky Face, Ga., at the Carpet Capital Collegiate at The Farm Golf Club.
