BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – South Carolina junior Mary Fran Hillow has been named to the Southeastern Conference Community Service Team for women’s golf, the league office announced on Monday.
Hillow has logged hours with various organizations over the past year. Last fall, the Orlando, Fla., native volunteered with the Tunnels to Towers 5K event that honors military and first responders. She has also helped conduct a kid’s clinic and held a log drive exhibition at a local golf course. Other events include the University’s Dance Marathon event and the Walk to Cure Diabetes. Before Christmas, Hillow built donated bikes for children. The junior is a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee as well.
The SEC names a Community Service Team for each of its 21 league-sponsored sports, looking to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to his or her community through superior service efforts.

Daniela Lendl, Alabama
Lendl volunteers at the Rise School (for special needs children) as well as the local YMCA … enjoys spending time visiting local elementary children … participated in the University of Alabama’s annual Halloween Extravaganza … Spent time with local children at the Tide’s “Tailgating with the Stars” event … involved with Alabama’s Power of Pink Breast Cancer Awareness events. ..Lendl has played in just one event this season due to injury, but boasts a 75.76 career scoring average in 21 events … a two time WGCA All-American Scholar and SEC Academic Honor Roll selection in 2013 and 2014 … also the Crimson Tide’s 2013 and 2014 SEC Community Service team member … graduates on May 2 with her degree in communications.

Has participated in Sweat Hogs Program where she made visits to local elementary schools, Special Olympics Area Games, Book Hogs Read To Win Program, Volunteered at the Oklahoma Kid’s Cancer Center, Served families Christmas meals at the Potter’s House, Participated in the Jingle Bell 5k run for Arthritis, Ronald McDonald House volunteer, Shop With the Razorback, Thanksgiving Lunch at Homestyle Assisted Living Center… Starter/made traveling team in every event as a freshman and sophomore…Played in four fall events shooting season-best 210 with rounds of 70-70-70 at Schooner Fall Classic…Helped Arkansas to seven top five finishes and two wins in eight events this season.

Chosen as the female student-athlete from all 14 SEC schools to represent the league at the 2015 NCAA Leadership Forum earlier this month in Orlando, Fla. Serving as both Vice President and Social Chairman for UGA’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for the 2014-15 academic year…Holiday service projects included coordinating efforts for Toys for Tots and mailing Holiday Cards for Deployed Soldiers…Assisted with both the Special Olympics Prom and Home Runs for Hometown Rivals, a softball game with Special Olympians at Georgia’s Stegeman Coliseum (moved there from Foley Field due to weather)…Coordinated the UGA SAAC’s involvement in the Hunger Bowl Can Food Drive as well as “Athens PBJ” – an initiative to help feed the homeless downtown Athens…Took part in Safe Routes to School, a program promoting walking or biking to Barrow Elementary, which is located across the street from UGA Athletics’ Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall…Assisted with several golf clinics for local area youth.

Has been actively involved in UK’s backpack program with God’s Pantry, filling backpacks with food supplies and delivering them to local elementary schools … Helped coordinate the athletic department’s blanket project, where Kentucky student-athletes made blankets for UK Children’s Hospital patients … Volunteered for Salvation Army bell ringing on multiple occasions during the holiday season to raise money for homeless families… Has a 4.0 cumulative grade-point average … Member of the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll in each of the last five semesters … Made the Women’s Golf Coach Association All-American Scholars Team in 2013-14 … Also a part of the SEC Honor Roll in 2013-14 … Made the SEC First Year Honor Roll in 2012-13 … Member of the UK Student-Athlete Advisory Committee since 2013.

Irina has been involved in many community service projects in her Vanderbilt career both in Nashville and abroad… She is very involved in community outreach in her native Philippines, speaking to students at her old high school about her experience in America and with golf, while also helping children in need by organizing a food distribution to impoverished children… In Nashville, she is a volunteer with the First Tee of Nashville helping children learn the game of golf and has also volunteered her time at the Vanderbilt Veterans Hospital. …Made the Dean’s List in 2013 and 2014, and was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll in 2013 and 2014.
