Sept. 25, 2001

uscsports.com recently sat down with Volleyball player Nadia Sefferovich for a few questions. Sefferovich is a junior from Tuscon, Arizona who transferred to Carolina from the University of Arizona last season. Here is what she had to say:

Who is the toughest opponent you have ever faced?
Definitely Nebraska. They were really tough, and it showed when they won the National Championship.

What’s your favorite thing about Kim?
The way she is honest with you mostly. But, I also like her staff and her coaching style.

All of the matches are important, but which one are you most looking forward to?
The re-match with Florida. We had them up two games to none, but we couldn’t put them away. I definitely feel like we can play with and beat them.

What are your individual goals for this season?
I want to get back to the NCAA Tournament and go farther than we did last season.

What’s your prediction for this season?
To get to the NCAA Final Four and win.

When your playing days are over, how would you like to be remembered?
As someone who was energetic, entertaining, and someone who left it all on the floor.

Best part about the fans at Carolina?
They are very loyal and supportive.

What is the biggest difference between Arizona and South Carolina?
The people here are more friendly, the weather is more humid here, and there is more to do.

Who hits the hardest ball you have ever tried to block?
Carrie Walsh from Stanford, who went on to play in the 2000 Olympics. She hit the ball so hard I thought she broke my hands.

What was your favorite memory from last season?
The Nebraska match. All of their fans wore red, and they were loud. It was a great atmosphere for volleyball.

Are you glad that you transferred?
I am. It’s been a learning experience, and I took an opportunity that not many people get to take.

What would you do if you had an afternoon off?
I would sleep and be very, very happy.

Who has the best serve on the team?
Mariana, definitely.

Who hits the hardest ball?
Niece

Who serves the hardest?
Berna’s and Cally’s both hit hard serves.

Who is the best passer?
Milica. She puts it right on the money every time.
