South Carolina senior Layla Choate won her seventh point of the season in Saturday’s win over Georgia while also earning MVP honors. Choate is 7-0 in reining this year.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina equestrian team remains No. 3 in the the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) rankings, it was announced Tuesday.

The Gamecocks are the highest ranked equestrian program in the Southeastern Conference, ahead of No. 4 Auburn, No. 5 Georgia, and No. 6 Texas A&M.

South Carolina (7-2, 3-1 SEC) took control of first place in the SEC on Saturday, when the Gamecocks defeated Georgia, 11-9, at the UGA Equestrian Complex. The Gamecocks also picked up a 17-2 win over Delaware State in a neutral site meet later that afternoon.

The Gamecocks return to action on Feb. 21, when Carolina travels to College Station to face Texas A&M. The Gamecocks close out the regular season with home meets on Feb. 28 against Auburn and March 1 against No. 1 Baylor.
