Gamecock senior Sam Chiodo leads the horsemanship team with a 9-1 record this season along with three MVPs.
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina equestrian team remains No. 2 in the country for the second straight week, it was announced Tuesday by the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA).
The Gamecocks are the highest ranked equestrian program in the Southeastern Conference, ahead of No. 3 Georgia, No. 4 Auburn, and No. 5 Texas A&M.
South Carolina (7-3, 3-2 SEC) saw its seven-meet winning streak come to an end on Saturday in College Station, as the Gamecocks lost 11-8 to Texas A&M.
The Gamecocks return to action on Feb. 28, when Carolina hosts No. 4 Auburn at 10 a.m. in Blythewood. Prior the start of the meet, the team will honor its nine seniors for Senior Day. The Gamecocks are also hosting their annual Equifest Kids Day on Saturday. Equifest activities are free to participate in and will include:
· Barn tours
· Horseshoe decorating
· Feeding the horses
· T-shirts giveaways
· Double points for students attending the meet
· Coloring station
