Browns Summit, N.C. – Kristy McPherson shot a three-under par 69, tying her for first-place on day one of the Bryan National Collegiate Tournament hosted by Wake Forest University. The Lady Gamecocks finished the day in second place, eight strokes behind first-round leader Duke.

McPherson fired a 35 on the front nine and a 34 on the back and sits atop the individual leader board with Duke’s Kristina Engstrom.

USC totaled a score of 294 on the first day of competition. Marci Robinson shot a 74 and is in a tie for 16th position while Kacy Thompson shot a 75 to tie for 26th place after one round.

The Lady Gamecocks resume action tomorrow with the second round of the tournament at the Brian Park Golf Course in Browns Summit, N.C., before the tournament concludes with Sunday’s final round.
