GAINESVILLE, FLA. – The South Carolina volleyball team fell in three sets at No. 6 Florida on Wednesday night, as the Gators won by the scores of 25-19, 25-9 and 25-20 at the O’Connell Center.
With the loss, the Gamecocks are now 17-13 on the season and 7-10 in SEC play. Florida improves to 24-3 overall and 18-0 in the SEC.
Sophomore Dessaa Legros led Carolina with a season-high nine kills, while junior right side Sarah Blomgren finished with six kills. Junior middle blocker Darian Dozier added five kills and one block. Junior setter Kellie McNeil distributed 10 assists, while freshman setter Allie Monserez had nine assists and five digs. Senior libero Mikaela Christiaansen and sophomore KoKo Atoa-Williams each had seven digs in the loss.
Four Gators finished the match in double figures in kills. Freshman middle blocker Rhamat Alhassan finished with a match-high 13 kills while hitting .706 and six blocks. Sophomore right side Alex Holston added 12 kills while hitting .455 and four blocks. Antwi Simone and Carli Snyder finished with 10 kills each. Setter Mackenzie Dagostino finished with 46 assists and four digs, while Madison Monserez and Holly Pole each had 12 digs.
As a team, the Gamecocks were outhit .450-.144, and the Gators held the edge in kills (55-26), digs (44-32) and blocks (8-4).
