COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina equestrian team enters the 2014-15 season ranked second in the National Collegiate Equestrian Association preseason rankings, released today.

The Gamecocks, coming off their second straight SEC Championship and national runner-up finish, went 15-3 last season.

This marks the 23rd consecutive week that the Gamecocks have been ranked either No. 1 or No. 2 in the national poll. Last season, Carolina was ranked No. 1 for 20 straight weeks – a University of South Carolina record.

The Gamecocks open the season this Friday when Carolina travels to Manhattan, Kan. to face sixth-ranked Kansas State. South Carolina defeated the Wildcats, 15-5, in last year’s season opener in Blythewood.

The Gamecocks’ home opener will be on Friday, Oct. 3, when South Carolina hosts defending national champion Georgia.
